GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) has changed the Paxil® (paroxetine hydrochloride) labeling to reflect updated epidemiological studies which show that infants born to women who had first trimester exposure to paroxetine had an increased risk of cardiovascular malformations.

GlaxoSmithKline has alerted physicians and pharmacists that they may have to ration Coreg, a heart medication that is the only approved treatment for certain high-risk patients.
Two other GSK drugs, diabetes treatment Avandamet and antidepressant Paxil CR, are also in short supply.
